And now, the end is here, and so you faced, the final dance off.

Yep, it’s all over, you’ve danced your little hearts out for us here at Weebl HQ, and we just want say a massive thank you to all those who jigged and thrusted, shimmied and rocked. Well done to the contingent that decided that the best kind of dance is one done dressed up in tinfoil and/or leotards. You know who you are! We’ve carefully examined all of the vids, sometimes with envy, occasionally with genuine fear, but mostly with a huge sense of pleasure at your love for the dance that’s fancy. Read on to find out the winner.

This year the standard has been so high that we had we had to impose some strict rules in the judging room. The pleasure of the dance is paramount, a routine is preferable to a ‘freestyle’, and just flailing your arms around while wearing a silly hat, does not a fancy dancer make. With that said, we whittled all the entries down to four finalists, and one winner. So here, in no particular order, are your champions, the true lords of the dance.

Dancing in the grass – The winner of the innovation award for bringing us the previously unseen moves of ‘the ponder’, ‘dig that hole’, and ‘knee slap swing’. Also full marks for swingball carrying man.

I Can’t Decide – This is all about the fun, and mad props for trying to bring back the short over trouser look favoured by eighties footballers.

Word up to the fancy dance – Sisters are doing it for themselves, some great moves, random man is a good touch.

The Sense Collective – This video caused the most debate in the judging room, and was so close to getting the top spot. We all loved it, and should our christmas single ever get released, we know where we’re going to get the video made. Some very, very fancy dancing, and some top quality vid work. Clearly your editing skills go beyond the star wipe.

But the undisputed winners of the competition, placed top by two of the judges, and the soon to be owners of a shiny new Wii, were Knicky and the Mattfish for this stunning piece of fancy dancing. The fact that you went out in public and braved the potential humiliation to bring us all an electrifying performance is what swung the vote. This is the very essence of the fancy dance. Enjoy, and yes, we will be bringing this back next year, so if I were you, I'd get limbering and slot on the leg warmers. Meanwhile, witness what truly is, the fanciest of fancy dances 2007!!
